The Death of Chick Lit?
So there's been some complaints lately that Chick Lit is dead. I don't think so. I certainly agree that now might not be the time for an unpublished author to promote a manuscript as Chick Lit.
But then what's in a name?
If you are not willing to edit your thinking along with your work, you may not deserve to be published.
Now I know that will piss off a lot of people. But think about it.
Isn't it really a word choice?
Isn't it really about the writing?
Isn't it really about being true to your voice? Isn't your unique voice who you are as a writer?
And if you aren't willing to make a few editorial changes like. . . let's say calling it Womens Fiction with Light Comedic Overtones, then maybe you're not flexible enough to survive as a writer?
Something to think about.
